Using the Rich Text Editor Tools

The rich text editor comes with a series of tools you can use to adjust how your blogs, products, or pages look. Here is a run-down of those tools.

Format

Change the size and other elements of your content:

Example:

Normal

Heading 1

Heading 2

Heading 3

Heading 4

Heading 5
Heading 6

Size, B, I, and Alignment

Size is pretty self-explanatory ... you can make text appear larger or smaller using the numbers in the dropdown menu.

You can also make text Bold [B] or Italic [I].

If you want to align your text - use the alignment tool:

Text aligned left

Text aligned center

Text aligned right

Bullets, Blockquote and Indent

Using the bullets, you can create numbered lists:

  1. Coffee
  2. Tea
  3. Milk

... and unorganized lists:

  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Milk

The blockquote tool indents text, makes it italic, and places it inside a quote border.

This is text in a blockquote

Using the indent tools ...

you can push text left or right

Images

When you click on the images tool, a prompt will open:

Select the "Upload" tab and find an image on your computer. Click the "Send it to the Server" button and wait for it to upload.

Once it uploads, you'll see the image in the preview screen. The tools on the left side allow you to adjust the size of the image, add a border to it, set the amount of spacing between the image and surrounding text, and shift the image to the left or right of the text.

When you're done, click "OK".

Links

To add a link to your page, start by selecting some text:

Click on the link tool to open the prompt. Insert the link into the URL field and click OK.

Your text will now appear as a link:

Tables

This tool creates a simple table.

When you click on the link a prompt will open where you can enter the specifics of your table.

This is how a simple table looks if you don't change any of the default settings:

You can enter content directly into the table cells.

Flash

If you wish to upload a flash file, this is the tool to use.

Add the direct link to the flash image in the URL field. Once you see your image, click "OK".

Note that the image will appear as a Flash box in the editor - the image will appear on the site page as it should.

IFrame

Similar to the Flash tool, you need to insert the link to the IFrame into the URL field, then click "OK".

Again, the item will show up an a red box in the editor, but it will be visible on the site.

Basic Functions

If you wish to work on your page in a larger screen, you can use the expand tool. There are also "undo" and "redo" tools for convenience.

Formatting

Use the clear formatting tool    to remove formatting codes in your text.

If you wish to add formatting manually, you can use the  tool.

If you are copying and pasting content from somewhere else, use the plain text tool

, or use the Word tool  to paste text from a word processor. This will automatically remove any formatting that can conflict with your site's template.
